Le costume Charleston fait fureur à Paris (1927)

Tirage argentique d'époque d'une photographie représentant un jeune homme noir vêtu d'un costume Charleston à Paris en 1927. Le costume composé d'un large pantalon est porté avec une cape et une canne en peau de léopard. 

Cette photographie est reproduite dans la revue britannique The Graphic du 4 juin 1927 accompagnée de la légende suivante : "Paris's dusky Beau Brummel. Paris has now had its first glimpse of a new masculine mode, "the Charleston suit", but sees it as in a glass -very darkly. Here it is, with its dusky sponsor: the trousers a Sorbonne variety of Oxford "bags," a leopard-skin cane, a cape to the jacket, and a floppy black hat that is nearly "vagabond"."

Silver print. Handwritten caption on reverse. Caption reads: " A n_____ introduce the new Charleston suit to Paris, which consiste a very wide Oxford Bags which are a close resemblance to skirts. A Cape is worn on the back of the Coat and as large shady hat given it a feminine touch. A leopard skin canne makes a smart finishing touch to this creation which is now all the craze in Paris." The words used at the time of the caption can be offensive today. 

Condition: Good condition, slight trace of fold to lower corners, signs of wear.
